Banarasi Silk Saree

On the ghats of Varanasi, silk is woven with gold. A Banarasi saree can take months on the handloom — and a lifetime in a family's memory.

The Attire

Her rani-pink Banarasi silk is patterned with zari butis and a leaf-vine border, draped in the classic seedha pallu style with the embroidered end brought over the shoulder to fall in front. The weave carries Mughal-inspired floral jaal motifs, a hallmark of Varanasi's karigars.

Jewellery & Adornment

A gold choker with kundan work, temple-style jhumkas, a delicate pearl pendant, stacked gold kangan and a heart-motif kamarband complete the bridal grandeur of the north.

Cultural Significance

A Banarasi saree is rarely just clothing — it is heirloom, dowry and blessing, passed from mother to daughter as a thread of continuity through generations.
